Let's talk about the great Canadian guitar players that are or have been on the scene. There are a lot of them, some that we might not be aware of, and some that we are aware of but are underrated or unnoticed in the music world in general.
I'll start with Brian Smith of Trooper, Colin James, Pat Travers, Kim Mitchell, Brian MacLeod (sadly RIP), Gerry Doucette, throw some names in if you please...
Of course we all know about Randy Bachman and Alex Lifeson and the more famous ones, but I just wanted to start this thread to make myself and others out there more aware of some of our great talented players that we should listen to and appreciate. Feel free to give us those names of some other Canuck axemen that we should check out!

One player that comes to my mind is a guy whose name is Danny McBride. He played lead guitar for the country rock band: The Good Brothers. For X-Mas back in 1978, one gift I got was the Good Bros LP: "Doin' the Wrong Things Right!" The opening track "Please Come Back To Me" to me stood out mainly because of Danny's lead guitar work. Check it out:

2 of my favs. Learned every bassline on One Chord To Another and Navy Blues, so a bigger Chris Murphy fan, but have a Tele Thinline because of Jay Ferguson.

If you don't know them, you should check out TUNS, band with Chris Murphy, Matt Murphy and Mike O'Neill (The Inbreds).

My list would be with some additions; Pete Lesperance - Harem Scarem is so underrated he is amazing Derry Grehan - Honeymoon Suite amazing Rick Emmett - Triumph Aldo Nova - Lets not forget him - Come on Fantasy was amazing Ian Crichton - Saga Marvin Birt - Haywire Paul Dean - Loverboy Bill Henderson - Chilliwack Chad Kroeger - Nickelback - Yes I said it !!!! Jeff Healey Paul Hackman - Helix - RIP Steve DeMarchi - Alias

I've always thought that Leonard Cohen never got enough love for his Spanish-style acoustic playing. Especially on his earlier albums. He made it look so effortless and elegant.

Ric Emmett, Alex Lifeson, Frank Marino, the guitarist from Honeymoon Suite and Kim Mitchell ( especially the Max Webster era) .

I'm gonna throw in some of the J's of Saskatchewan.
Joni Mitchell, Jack Semple, Colin James,
Jay Semko (Northern Pikes) and lastly my favorite 306J, is Jordan Cook aka Reignwolf. Since he was little, he was out touring the prairies. I first saw him when he was like 12 dressed in a colorful suit (a cross between Elvis and Porter Wagoner) ripping the blues.
