My uncle took my brother and I to go see them in Detroit once around the time of Love Stinks and man, oh man, did these guys put on a show. Wish I would have been a little older at the time to fully appreciate it. I grew up on Detroit FM radio where they were about as popular as a band could get - don't know if I've ever heard them on Toronto radio.
And no, "Freeze Frame" or "Centerfold" aren't really what I consider "The J. Geils Band", but to each there own.
Don't think I've ever met anyone who saw them who wouldn't put them either at the top or awfully close to the best concert they ever saw. For as "sweaty" a movie as Cool Hand Luke is, it's got nothing on a mid-70's - '82 J. Geils show.
