Aside from being Warren Haynes, any suggestions on an amp or a pedal that could get me close to the tone his has in Endless Parade?

From the moment I first heard this solo, I knew this was my holy grail of tone:

+1000 to cheezy. Gear is certainly part of the equation - but only the last 5 or 10%, IMO.

I sound like me all the time. Me with cheddar (into a Fender), me with gorgonzola (a Vox), me with mozzarella (a Mesa), etc.

So I always sound like me - and always sound cheesie. Not cheesie like cheezy maybe (he's probably not cheesie at all??), but always cheesie none the less, if ya know what I mean. I barely do.......

The sound he's getting at 5:38 (where you marked the video) is a pretty gained out amp with the volume rolled back on his guitar. If you check out around 8:10 in the video, he rolls the volume on his guitar up to full. So to get the milder sound, start with the higher gain sound from 8:10 and roll your volume down on your guitar to where the sound is in the beginning.

Like shoretyus noted, he uses a Soldano live a lot (there's one in the background of the video as well). If you want to go the amp route, you could buy a Soldano SLO 100 or possibly a Soldano Hotrod. Another amp that is close is the Peavey 5150. Apparently they were based on the SLO and are quite a bit less expensive. There's probably several others that would get you close as well.

If you want to got the pedal route, I've never used one but you might want to look in to the Wampler SLOstortion. I don't know how well they clean up when you roll the volume back though, which is part of the sound. Any hot rodded Plexi-style pedal should get you close though: maybe a Rockett Animal or even a Fullltone OCD might work.

I'm going to jump in here cause its about tone and its subjective at best.
I dont hear the "holy" nor the "grail" in this video.

The clean is about as clean as it gets.... Is there a decent amp being built these days that cant give you low volume clean?
As for the cranked overdrive portion... OK.. its cranked and its overdrive.
The vast majority of well known guitarists get that sound with no problem.

MAybe I'm missing something but its what I hear .

You're right, it is subjective. It may not spark anything in you, but when I hear the bend that he does at 5:48, it makes me want to pick up my guitar and play. Maybe it's my ears, but that's not pristine clean to me. There's a richness or fullness to it that I'm trying to find with my setup, but am struggling, and when he digs in, I can hear a bit of dirt.

I was just looking for some guidance on how to try and get there, crank my amp, play with my guitar volume, use a low gain pedal, use a lead boost, etc..

I've read other posts on TGP where someone has suggested a SLOstortion. I'll check that out, but wanted to see if I could get there without having to go on a gear hunt, not that there is anything wrong with that :)

Thanks for the tips everyone, and yes, I don't disagree that only Warren will sound like Warren.
