Hello everyone!

We’re thrilled to announce that TheGearPage has officially joined the VerticalScope family! On behalf of the entire Community Management team, we’d like to extend a warm welcome to all of you. We’re here to support the ongoing operation and growth of TheGearPage, and we want to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and share what you can expect moving forward.

Who Are We?
VerticalScope is a network of vibrant online communities, and our community management team is dedicated to making the work of forum moderators and administrators easier and more effective.

What Do We Do?
Community is at the heart of everything we do. Our top priorities are continuity, stability, and providing the resources needed to help TheGearPage thrive for many years to come. We’ll work alongside volunteer moderators and administrators to enhance member engagement, increase reach, attract new members, and continuously improve the overall community experience.

What Will Change?
From a cultural perspective, very little will change. You may see our Terms of Service and Privacy Policies being implemented, but they’re aligned with what you’re already familiar with. On the technical side, you can expect some ad changes, along with software updates and improvements to the site over the coming months, aimed at enhancing performance. You’ll also gain access to additional resources, including community management support for forum-related technical issues. Rest assured, our focus remains on community, and we’re here to make sure the platform remains stable, well-maintained, and ready to meet the needs of its members.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!

We’re excited to work alongside the members, moderators, and administrators of this community and are genuinely happy to be a part of this journey with you.

Warm regards,
The VerticalScope Community Team
Buhahaha.

I was posting technical tips for repairing tube amplifiers...
then the hecklers would swoop in and make attack posts...
Then the moderators would threaten to ban me for what the hecklers were doing.

I would urge people to measure and test; one step at a time.
The hecklers would urge people to ignore testing, proceed according to assumptions and guessing.
Experienced knowledgeable educated people are picked on and bullied.
Hacks are held in the highest esteem.

To tell the truth, and I know not everyone shares this opinion, I really haven't noticed any real degradation of this site since Verticalscope took it over.

Yes, I miss Scott. He was a classy guy and I enjoyed meeting him several times and his steady, even hand at running the site, but for me at least I still see the site in much the same light.

I used to be one of them, but I've started to realize that it was simply me, trying to use rules and codes of conduct from GC while posting on TGP and somehow expecting them to abide by them.

I have never (as far as I can remember) been suspended or banned here, but I have been on TGP, and I didn't do anything there, that I haven't done here.

I think when you're ten times as big, maybe you have to apply the rules more closely so if I posted something that might be acceptable here, but got suspended for it there, how is that their fault?

I will say that there was definitely a very....spiritual element which seemed protected there so if you said ANYthing even remotely.....un-spiritual.....poof, instaban.

Anyway, there are some great people there, and some real douchebags, just like here.

If TGP becomes moderated the way this group is, it will self destruct within days! The former TGP administration sure had a puritan slant, but they did keep the group from constantly breaking into chaos and kept the discussion focused on music gear and music. To me, that is a good thing and I would welcome it here (even though I once got a warning on TGP for saying Josh for JHS looks like Allan from Barbie; it wasn't a stab in anyway, they simply look similar, but I think the admins saw it as some type of emasculating comment about one of their own).

They do an ok job for sure, even though I’ve had a couple of questionable warnings. Are they paid or is it a thankless job? Some of them even seemed surprised and unaware of the Vertical Scope purchase.

VC will keep it running the same as it has been, it’s a big investment and they’ve done this before and learned from mistakes(hopefully). TGP has changed hands a few times in the last little while and this is just the progression of things. It’s big, and that’s both good and bad.
