Not sure if this is the correct subforum for this, but here goes.............

Probably a long-shot, but is there a program out there that can create tab (or notation as that can later be converted to tab) for a song that you play through it? So you play an MP3, youtube video, or whatever and the software creates a tab?

I want to learn an old Killer Dwarfs song and there is no way I am going to find a tab for it floating around on the web. It is primarily the main riff that I am interested in, but I cannot figure things out by ear to save my life so need something to do it for me.

There are actually a few of their songs that I'd like tabs for, but this is the one I am primarily interested in right now:

Wow, now I’ve seen everything: a killer dwarfs tablature request!
Hang around a guitar forum long enough and you'll see everything!

they used to play this on ‘midweek metal’ all the time. You have to be at a certain age to get that reference lol
Oh I am of that age. I know the song because of that show - Midweek Metal Mania! I always liked the video, and have always loved the song and the guitar work in the song.

I've been in a rut and haven't been playing. I pretty much lost all desire to do so, but I think learning even just the riff to something I have liked for so long might help to reignite the spark. I am in England now, so am hoping to maybe get into this when I return next week.

A viable option that I know exists, is if you can find the MIDI file for the song you want tabbed & use an older version of Guitar Pro to open that MIDI file. I use GP 5.2 for a variety of tasks & one task it does, is it'll open MIDI files & allow them to be exported/saved as a Guitar Pro file that can be viewed in tab or standard notation (with Guitar Pro) plus it'll export/save a converted MIDI file to a GP file as a PDF that can be exported/saved & opened, that allows for viewing or printing. But..... In some instances, I've run into some MIDI files that GP won't/can't open for reasons I've been unable to determine.
