I rented a guitar because by teacher wanted me to rent one for 1-2 months to see if I like guitar so I did that. He told me NOT to go to steve's FOR RENTALS (I'm in montreal:smilie_flagge17:) because even if it's a great store in all they might try to overprice someone new to guitars. 9kkhhd So he told me to go to Italmelodie, another store( it's big!) and I asked for a good quality beginner guitar for rental. So the worker goes and takes this Alvarez, and says this is a beginner guitar blabla i'll rent it for 20$ a month. And the he looks a it a bit more and tells his coworker "Hey! This is the alvarez I was looking for. I'm sorry i made a mistake this will rent for 35$." On the spot, he seemed credible and i rented the guitar.kqoct

It's an Alvarez RD10. I checked the prices on the web and it's about a 220-250$ guitar... I don't think a 220$ guitar is supposed to be rented at 35$ a month.

Did I get overpriced because I'm a stupid beginner?:sport-smiley-002:

hmmm i have to admit that that does sound fishy to me. the rd10 is an entry level guitar, are you sure that is the model you have? for instance, if your guitar has a pickup, it would be a higher version of the rd10 that's more expensive.. last i knew, they sold rd10s with electronics as a cutaway model, and without as a non-cutaway.

if the guitar is a base ($250 ish) model, then $35 a month does sound too high.

that being said, i can't think of a music store that would screw a new customer out of $15 anymore, it's just not worth it, word of mouth is too powerful a market force these days. it may well have been an honest mistake on their part.
