Just reminiscing about these rock bands that I used to listen to back in the days. I'm sure there are some that I forgot about. Not all but some would tour around the country and play at school dances or other small venues.
Loverboy
Streetheart
Kim Mitchel
Matt Minglewood
Toronto
Harlequin
Chilliwack
Brian Adams
April Wine
Rush

Although I did hear some of their songs, I was not familiar with Max Webster. I only started to listen to their stuff under Kim Mitchell. I have no doubt that they were great live.

Thanks for the bands that I forgot about. Brings back memories during my high school years...partying, drinking, hooking up with girls, making a complete ass of myself...good times.

they played a bar here, I had seen a show previously and was telling my buddy "he is going to jump on someones table grab their beer to play slide then chug the beer"....sure enuff later I came back from the can to see my empty beer and my buddy grinning ear to ear.

pyro TV on his head as well if memory serves.

Love the late 70s Canadian bar band genre like Harlequin, Loverboy, Toronto etc. - believe it was a bit of a unique sound they didn't really have in the US (maybe Foreigner). Similar to the arena rock but still a little more raw with all the melody.

Here's a cool Streetheart set from back in the day with Spider Sinnaeve on bass who eventually hooked back up with Paul Dean & Matt Frenette who were in the original Streetheart before forming Loverboy. Love their version of Under My Thumb too!

Edit: Totally never thought to mention I weirdly met someone in line yesterday who told me he played the bar scene during this period when I mentioned Winnipeg. Cool synchronicity.
