I've been window shopping between the usual FretGuru, Nomad S and the Stew Z for a while.
I have a Tri file but I don't like them since I always slip once or twice.
All of these files are way overpriced. The FretGuru diamond has been out of stock for a while. that one is also $150
I hear you about the wide strip. There is no sense using the file and then need another one to finish and then sand and polish.
The 55 dollar shipping charge drives me crazy out of all of it. It's a file.
at $150(ish) I definitely don't want a file that needs another file when done. I understand sanding and polishing out the file marks, that makes sense... but if after filining the crown the sides are flat or the top strip is wide, then may as well stick with the tri files.

Like you said though, easy to slip with, and as I mentioned previously, my tri file safe-edge leaves a lot of marks for a 'safe' edge. But, when you watch how-to vids, even StewMac, the one guy always seems to whip out the tri-file vs the much advertised z-file.
