So I bought this about a year and a half ago. I'd owned a couple of Epiphone ES-335 Pro (the version with the probuckers and push-pull pots) that played and sounded just OK, but kind of left me flat and I didn't think they were worth the money I had tied up in them. I'd decided to look for a Gibson 335, but in the interim this one popped up used at L&M. I was quite surprised how much I liked the sound and playability. These are all Mahogany and I think it makes a difference from the maple-sandwich Dots. This is what it looked like.
Here's the exact guitar on demo at Norm's Rare Guitars
Anyway, I thought it would be a good candidate to experiment on repainting. Then life got in the way - new job, new house, etc. I had the black all sanded off, and took it to a pro to repaint it. I chaged out the bridge and talipiece with some Epiphone chrome parts, and the pickups are a used set of Gibson Burstbucker Pros I got from another GC member. Locking tuners are from NextGen
I'm just getting it put back together now - here's the "after" so far. Can't wait to hear it.
