Yes US $$$. Even though Eastwood is run by a Canadian. It is based on the classic Mosrite guitar, a unique design. It was also used in recordings by Iron Butterfly including - In A Gadda Da Vida - the first rock song to cover one side of a record album (I believe)

Ok, so nothing special. Just wasn't sure if it was a beginners guitar.
The official Vintage Guitar Price Guide describes Eastwood guitars as budget and intermediate grade. I take" budget grade" to indicate beginners. However my daughter has an Eastwood bass and is quite happy with it, and it certainly didn't come at a budget price.

Unique looking guitar. Good for you that uniqued up on it and was able to bring it home.

I have never thought of them as beginners guitars.

Eastwood do a good job of recreating some of the now popular retro guitars and they seem to be well made for offshore guitars...but they ask a premium price for them. I really like the Saturn 63 model but even used on Reverb.com they are going for around $1000 Cdn which I feel is quite high for what it is. I can't seem to find a msrp for the Saturn.

I knew what it was from the headstock--they have a few I wouldn't mind--and others I'd like to try out.
But have never gone for it yet--partly due to price, partly due to finding one to check out.

I'm a huge Devo fan. When Eastwood did the Bob 1 version of the La Baye 2x4 I pulled the trigger. That was 2 years ago (almost 3) and its been out of its case twice. Not because of quality or anything like that, but because next to a Flying V it is the most impractical guitar in history for guys that play sitting down :) Eastwood does some very cool retro guitars but they aren't cheap.

It is a cool look in some ways--but that impractical thing has probably kept me from buying one--that & the price of the originals.
Yes Eastwoods are not normally cheap (Some models are, many aren't)--but the originals are even more--although there is the high probability you could re-sell the originals for a better return than the Eastwoods.

I've seen Mother Mother several times. Ryan (lead singer/guitarist) can shred the hell out of a guitar when he needs to. And most of the time what he's playing while he's singing is actually quite complicated. I can barely play an E chord and sing at the same time.

I vote two thumbs up for Eastwood - bought one of their side-jack guitars last year - (the Mosrite copy) It played very well right out of the box. (for a $500 guitar) I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a set up for it . Not sure if I'd use it for a serious gig - it could certainly use a fret dressing /set-up/ bone nut etc, but for a fun "at-home guitar" I'm very happy with it :)

I have a Sidejack 32 bass. It's one of the original limited edition 12 made by Eastwood before it went into full production. It's metallic red in colour, 32" neck and the pickups are dual Mosrite style EW P-90's. Plays and sounds somewhat like a Rickenbacker.
