The Clapton signature Stratocaster has 80 Db boost ( 73 Db boost without the mid boost ). I bought a stock Clapton signature Stratocaster and on just 6 % of my amps Clean channel out of 100 % I hit the roof of the amp at 117 decibels. My normal passive Strat only got 40 decibels. Thats 77 Db boost but hitting the roof of the amp and I knew it had more to give so I tried it on an amp of 125 decibels and with a dicibel reader I got 80 Db boost. Then I used professional fools to measure Db boost as I am an electrician and active cuircuits is something I know this was easily Done. Got the same results 80 Db boost. 80 Db boost which is 80 decibels louder than a passive Stratocaster mean its 256 times louder than a passive Stratocaster. Without mid boost at 73 decibels more its 160 times louder than a passive Stratocaster. Though you can only use it on the Clean channel unless you have a Soldano or Fender Tweed. Other wise the distorted channel immidiately Will shut of the incredibly hot signal and you Will have the same volume as a normal guitar if you play on the distorted channel. The Clapton signature Stratocaster has 1 500 volt output. Thats way too much for the distorted channel to handle. I have a very powerful Amp that can handle 3,50 volts on the distorted channel normal amps can only handle 1-2 volts. But mine can Hadle an EMG 85 or 81 active Humbucker guitar that has 1,5 volt output with a boost pedal that might have up to 2 volt output. But in no way can it handle 1 500 volt output. The Clapton signature Stratocaster uses a very intelligen transistor Voltage boost to get to 1 600 volt for safetety. It has 3 cascaded 2N6429 transistors, discrete op amp topology and a 2N5087 transitor. Thats an enourmous amount of gain in that set up. You have 80 Db boost in the Clapton signature Stratocaster but you can have much more with that setting. The Clapton signature Stratocaster uses its transistor along with the discrete op amp topology and very good and powerful collectors that are perfect for transistor voltage boost on the highest of levels. It also uses the best transistors I have ever seen. The only thing thats passive on the Clapton signature Stratocaster is its Stacked Humbuckers ( Vintage Noiceless). A passive Stratocaster has 0,15 volt output and a passive Gibson Les Paul has 0,20 volt output. So you can understand with 1 500 volt there is an enormous volume difference. As I Said its 256 times louder than a passive Stratocaster at 80 Db boost ( and 256 times louder than a passive Gibson Les Paul as the difference between a passive Stratocaster and a passive Gibson Les Paul is so incredibly small ). Without the mid boost its 160 times louder than a passive Stratocaster and a passive Gibson Les Paul. If you are looking for a normal Stratocaster this is absolutely as far away from it ad you can come. The incredible boost colours the found and the Stacked Humbucker makes it absolutely impossible to sound like a Single coil guitar. Physics does not allow a Humbucker to sound like a single coil. If you want the easily most powerful guitar in the world The Clapton signature Stratocaster is it.
