Anybody familiar with this amp? I picked one up on the GC Buy & Sell a few weeks ago and I'm still pinching myself.

I Googled this. A new #7 combo goes for $2100.00 USD. http://www.bcaudio.com/amplifier-no-7.html

BTW, why are you pinching yourself?
Ha! Afraid that the tone from this amp isn't real and that I may be dreaming!

It really is something else. I've been reading the stellar reviews on this amp for about 2 years now but couldn't convince myself to spring for a new one. I was shocked to see a used one come up for sale in Canada and even then it sat for sale for several weeks before I pulled the trigger.

I've had it now for several weeks, long enough for the honeymoon period to be over, and my opinion only gets more positive the more I use it.

I can't describe it any more accurately than this on the No 7 web page:

Its tones are firmly rooted in tweed Fenders and Marshall plexis, but Amplifier No. 7 possesses its own amazing rock voice. Its overdrive tones are thick and meaty, with plenty of body and awesome "kerrang." Clean tones are warm and full. The transition to overdrive is incredibly smooth. It gets nice and chimey on the verge of overdrive. Crank it up and it gets thicker and richer while retaining amazing clarity.

I've never owned an amp that responds so well to pick attack and tweaking of the guitar's volume control. I've been able to pull 2 or 3 pedals off my board and am now running with just a tuner, clean boost and a reverb pedal. I leave the clean boost (Bob Burt) on all the time and control volume and grind with the guitar. At 15 watts (with 6V6's) I was worried about clean headroom but it is more than adequate.

Highly recommended!
