Like many of you, i have way too many guitars. Like around 100 too many. I am not playing in a band right now or recording, so it feels like I need to trim things back a bit with the thought that We could use some of the proceeds to travel a bit and possibly replace a furnace/AC unit next summer. In addition, not one of my kids plays guitar :(

Happy to have you come by and check out any of these guitars (there is always some beer in the fridge here too) or I can do a Detailed, in-hand viewing via Videochat on request to save you the trip.

Squier by Fender 1980's JV series Stratocaster (MIJ) - $1,500

View attachment 570579

More detailed pics here.

The 1982-84 era of Made in Japan guitars is pretty amazing and this guitar is no exception. Plays great and sounds legit. Comes with hardshell case as pictured.

Here is a bit of info in case you are not aware of the JV series history:
_

Squier JV Series

The earliest Fender Japan instruments can be divided into two basic categories; Squier-branded guitars that were built for export, primarily to the United States, and guitars made under the Fender brand that were intended for the Japanese domestic market.

The earliest Japanese Squiers featured a large "Fender logo" on the instrument headstock in the traditional place and a much smaller "Squier" logo underneath.

This arrangement was soon reversed, with subsequent instruments bearing a large "Squier" logo with a smaller "Fender" underneath.

The first Fender Japan instruments produced for domestic consumption were closely based on Fender instruments of the late 1950s and early 1960s and are commonly known as the "JV" series, due to their serial numbers beginning with the letters JV.

These JV were known for their particularly high quality, often incorporating American-made pickups and offering period-correct details, such as cloth-covered wiring and vintage style tuners."
Do you know how much the Strat weighs?

This Player grade Gibson Les Paul Jr. from 1957 has a great vibe and comes with a newer hardshell case.
This guitar absolutely nails the classic Leslie West tone plugged straight into Amp. Very dynamic tone across all tone and volume settings. Plays easily and sounds killer. I have way more oics if you wish to see them.

PLEASE READ BELOW:
Neck: Mahogany neck with a fat “C” profile typical of late 50’s Gibsons, rosewood fingerboard, non original frets in good condition, headstock crack repair, face of the headstock touched up, neck heel repair with a paint touch up.
Body: Mahogany body.
Finish: Non-original re-finish shows moderate wear all over the body and the neck, lots of small dents and scratches.
Hardware/electronics: Period correct, possibly Original P90 pickup and tuners, non original bridge and pots.

Unedited Luthier's notes:

1957 Les Paul Junior refin serial 7 6390
  • original nut - shimmed
  • refret - okay job, jumbo fret wire
original strip tuners (or period correct replacements)
  • tuner strips were removed and replaced with singles at some point
  • minor fracture behind nut, stable or has been stabilized
  • truss rod works fine
  • neck is straight and true
  • full refin, off-colour and not the best quality
  • poorly refinished headstock face but original decals saved
  • possible neck reset with heel repair touchup
  • replaced bridge, very light aircraft aluminum, good quality with adjustable saddles long stud posts and inserts
  • original strap buttons
  • inserts recessed to allow lower bridge adjusment
  • P90 pickup is period correct (sounds fantastic) but replaced and reinstalled at some point

  • original bumble-bee cap
  • knobs original
  • output jack likely original (unable to fully extract)
  • pickup resistance: 7.61k

Gretsch Roc Jet 1973 - Cherry $3,800

Image

More detailed pics here.

The Gretsch Roc Jet was made in the 1970's and featured a floating tailpiece and a pair of Gretsch's SuperTron humbuckers, and came in a variety of finishes. The cherry red Roc Jets seem to be quite rare and don’t come up that often.

This one appears to be original, has great playability and offers really sweet tones! Frets have lots of life. The general condition is quite good but it has dents/finish checking on the body like most guitars of this vintage. It comes with the original case which is in rough shape but works fine.

Yamaha SG-2 Electric guitar (1960's - White) - $2,650

Yamaha’s first electric guitars officially launched in April 1966 under the names S302 and S201, which were changed one month later to SG-3 and SG-2. They featured original designs for the tremolo unit, neck joint system, and pickups, demonstrating Yamaha's penchant for individuality and innovation from their very first models.

A favourite of Link Wray, This was their take on of the Fender Jazzmaster. The guitar is in good shape with normal player wear (please refer to detailed pics) and both pickups have strong output with nice clarity and body. Cleans sound as nice as heavy gain sounds. With help from the zero nut the guitar sets up perfectly. The tremolo arm is missing it's plastic end and may not be original.

These were a big hit with the Surf / Garage craze in the 60’s and are in use with many Surf and Garage revival bands.

Can't see the pics in that link for the Suhr! Looks gorgeous though. I know you're slimming down, but any interest in partial trades? :) I've got a 1962 Fender Super sitting in Toronto collecting dust that I could part with towards something in this thread. All original guts, replacement speakers. Sounds glorious with all the brownface goodness.

Fender Telecaster Thinline (1970) - $6000

Image

More pics
here.

Absolutely fantastic playing and sounding Vintage Tele thinline. Light as a feather too! Looks remarkably similar to the one that Gilby Clarke from Guns and Roses sold recently even down to the paint chip near the Output jack.

This one has been played plenty and i am fairly certain the body has been refinished at some point. Back of neck has a worn-in, satin-like feel making it so easy to play.

It is very hard to photograph black guitars so it is quite hard to notice, but there is a small crack in the body near the bottom of the F-hole. Nothing that affects the guitars stability, of course. There is a saddle replaced as you can see. Pots (and likely Pickups) have been replaced as well but original pots appear to be in the case.

This is not a collector's piece by any means but these guitars are very hard to come by. Not always saying a lot, but This will absolutely destroy most anything made in the Fender custom shop these days.
