My buddy sent me this:

So I looked into it, and ya… looks like Geddy and Alex will do some select dates to celebrate their 50th.
Who will be on the kit you ask???

Well, mixed feelings here, but I'll say this. The world is a better place with Lee and Lifeson touring and playing the great music Rush created.
Although I was, and remain a huge fan of Mr. Peart, I became a fan before he was in the band. Lee and Lifeson were going to be huge no matter what. That first album is killer IMO.

Obviously any drummer asked to fill Peart's shoes will face some scrutiny, but the boys wouldn't pick someone who wasn't up to the task.

They can call themselves Rush no problem. the thing about them, while I’m not a huge fan of the music, is that they deserve the highest respect for lasting 40+ years doing what they want and having fun. The still want to have fun so they deserve to go out and have fun.
to me, Geddy must just contemplate in amazement every single day that he gets away with being called a singer with a voice like that. But hey. Music s be about fun so they deserve the fun

I like the idea, and plan to go to one of the shows. You cant replace Neil, but you can do his parts justice and still put on a good show. I cant imagine any member of a great band wanting them to end things completely.

With all due respect to Mr. Peart, who I admire greatly, Alex and Geddy were RUSH before he even knew about them and they were awesome with John Rutsey who was also a solid drummer.

I have no problem with them calling themselves RUSH.

Hoping to attend the August 9 show.

Neil was a drum god. That said, I can't help think how much great music we would have lost if their bands stopped playing after Cliff Burton, Bon Scott, Duane Allman, and Ronnie Van Zant (and probably others) passed.

Anika is a pretty wicked drummer - even if I'd never heard her, if Geddy Lee and Alix Lifeson say so that's enough for me (try finding a best bass player or guitarist list without these two near the top). I doubt I'll get to hear them in person, but I hope they do some recordings so the rest of us can check it out.

Fantastic news! I’ve only seen Rush twice- 2112 tour and the last tour. As cool as it was to see them on the last tour, I kinda felt like there was some energy missing.
What I’d hope to see with the new tour is the excitement and energy that comes from bringing new players into the mix- especially Anika Nilles. I think it’ll be great.

I predict all dates will be completely sold out and more will be added.

This in spite of them being such a terrible band, with a bad singer.

Pseudo- intellectual, pretentious....et cetera.

LMAO.

I'm on the waiting list for the Toronto shows, which will be a love in.
