Metalzone Fix needed

I have an old Metalzone and I was doing the Diezel mod and all was going well but there was a problem. There was a hair line break in the trace of one of the pads. It worked out of the box but when pushed in it severed the connection. I tried to fix it with a silver pen but made a mess. I tried copper foil and that didn't work. I tried a jumper but I'm not sure I did it right, no signal. I've made kind of a mess of the spot. Can anyone tell me if this if fixable?

This. You can use a bit of lead from a resistor, and use the insulation taken from a piece of stranded wire to cover the solid wire you've clipped from the resistor.

If you have some, dip a Q-tip in some methyl hydrate and use the wet tip to clean up all the crud around the joint.

Yes, use solder wick dipped in flux and apply with your soldering iron to soak up all the used solder. When all the solder has been removed, clean the area with a proper solvent to reveal the damaged areas. At this point post an image and we will access the damage to determine your next step. If the copper track is damaged severely it can be repaired with 24 or 26AWG solid copper wire...I have used this method many times with good success.

That is indeed a mess, but it shouldn't be a problem to clean up and fix.

You'll want to jumper to the pad (green outline), not the trace.

BTW, that area in red... is that damage as well?
Okay I'll change what I have done. I went to the trace.
That isn't damaged in red that seems to be a trick of the camera or lighting.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. For the record I didn't work on this pedal before this mod, someone else did and didn't clean the flux. It corroded some parts. Turns out I did probably have the connection done correctly the first time. There is another spot with a lifted pad that goes to one of the input wires. That one I can't seem to get to function properly. There was also another input wire hanging on by a thread that I didn't notice and it finally broke so I would have never known had I fixed it. I got some sound out of it but is distorted and not in the good way. If you move the board around or the input wire sometimes you get some signal coming through. I can take another picture of that mess but I'll have to clean it up first.
Thanks again for the help.

I've got clear sound when the pedal is switched off but I only get a faint sound coming through when engaged unless I move the board around, then it's distorted on top of the distortion. Is it the output? I put the original jacks back in. The pedal worked after the mod, it stopped working when I tried to cram it back into the case. That severed the connection that was my first problem.

I figured out the last problem this metal zone had. The ribbon cable was bad. Could pull it off and break all the connections and glue easily from the eq board. I first tried stripping and resoldering the original cable but the wires were breaking, so had to wire each individual one by hand with single wires. It works now, maybe a bit more noise, I'm not sure but I like the sound of the Diezel Mod and can finally hear it and use the eq. Thanks to all who offered help!

Glad you got it working!

I've modded the DS-1 too many times to remember. Didn't do the Diezel mod, but did the bass mod, seeing eye, plexi, ultra, and a couple others, plus combinations of a couple of them. I never did find one that I actually liked enough to stick with it. 🤷‍♂️ Learned a lot through the process though! (y)
