Hi Thornton, Greetings from Vancouver!

I have a couple Hagstrom Swedes, and was wondering if you could help date them?
53 - 895040
53 - 074101

Thanks, Stacey
Stacey, well both are Swede models. 895040 was the 40th Swede to be made in production run 895 which produced 500 of them in 1974. And 074101 was the 101st Swede to be made in production run 074 during 1980. That run produced 253 of them.

rebelo, your Hagstrom is a reissue of the "Jimmy" model which are made in China. The serial number of your HJ800 identifies it as having being made in August of 2009.

Yes I have the production records for all Hagstrom electric guitars and basses so let me know the serial number of the Swede bass that you end up buying and I'll provide you with the production information on it. TD
I inherited my dad’s Hagstrom bass SN 821085, I’m try to find out information about it. My dad said it was made in Sweden. Any help would be appreciated.

maggiesmith66, your dad’s Hagstrom is a H-II-B N bass that was made in Sweden in production run 821. That run produced 300 basses with your dad’s being the 85th bass to have been made in the run. 821 commenced production in 1971 and finished in 1972. Your dad’s H-II-B N bass was made in 1971.

Mug, your Hagstrom-IIB was produced in production run 654 which produced 998 of them between 1965-66. Your bass was the 729th made in that run which would date it to having been made in 1966.

Sounds like you need to get yourself another one since the original sounds like it's been pretty beat up.

I have a 654999? Thoughts

Hi TD,

I just wanted to thank you because it seems you've been helping people answer Hagstrom serial questions for over 10 years now! I came across this thread a while back because I host a serial number compendium on my website. In my Hagstrom entry I mention that you've been the guru helping people, and I point them to this messaging thread with a link.

I wanted to just ask, do you have the official Hagstrom book of serial numbers that nobody seems to have posted anywhere on the internet? Or do you have some other records because you worked there? I guess I'm wondering how extensive the database of serials is, if it is digitized, and if you have any interest in allowing me to post it for people in my compendium. I understand if this is not possible, but I thought I would ask, since I'd like to get this rare info you have out to more Hagstrom owners if possible.

Thanks!

Wade

Wade,

Yes I have a hard copy of the Hagstrom Blue Book that I've owned for over 25 years. During that time I've made notes in it about different production runs that weren't included in it like the many prototype models that the factory produced over the years. Most of the info I've picked up has been a result of various conversations with former Hagstrom employees including Karl-Eric Hagstrom Sr. and Jr. as well as many Hagstrom collectors.

I've considered digitising my copy of the book but because I don't own the copyrights to it I won't. BTW, I was not involved with the production listings in the Hagstrom page on Wikipedia as I was credited. That was done without my knowledge.

I share the information to help vintage Hagstrom owners understand when their instruments were made because the information is very difficult to obtain especially since the Blue Book was only produced in a very small quantity and no longer available unless you can find a copy on Ebay or Reverb which is rare.

The only full production digest with complete details of each of the 128,538 instruments made and which dealer it was shipped to worldwide resides at the current Hagstrom office in Sweden. I suspect that someday it will reside in the Hagstrom museum.

Hi.
A new enthusiast here. I am going to resurrect this beauty. Well... Used to be a beauty.
It will be a bit of work and parts searching/purchasing, but I have a very interesting story about the guitar. So I am determent in getting it on.

Anyway, for starters I would love to know more about my serial information. I was informed there was a very helpful gentleman over here. The serial is 53 076003.
