Some folks and I have started threads with gigs and stuff and very few people post their gigs or shows in it. So how would this be different from just starting a thread about gigs?
Because by nature it implies that hobbyists are at a lower level than those who play for money.

It smells bad to me, but I'm just one guy.

Let me understand what you are saying, starting a thread about gigs implies hobbyists are at a lower level? As opposed to having a separate forum? The thread is just a way to announce if someone has a gig, how would that make someone who doesn't play out make them feel at a lower level? Or I'm missing something here.

No, a thread is one thing. An entirely separate and distinct section dedicated to gigging musicians could make hobbyists feel like they're not at the same level.

It's not that big a deal. Whatever people want.

So, how about a non-gigging hobbyists forum too then?
How does some people playing out reflect poorly on others who don't?
I know guy that's an LA session legend, played on countless movie soundtracks (you've seen Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones, the Matrix and ... right?), worked with John Williams, Henry Mancini, Quincy Jones ... He doesn't play out (well, twice in the last 25 years, I got to play with him on one of those and it was awesome).

As a non gigging musician (To me playing at church is different), I wouldn't be offended, and might still eb interested in reading stuff like that.
I could contribute questions.

I'm good either way, but I also get this view.

Sorry about the Necro Thread Resurrection..... great idea !!!!
A section where you can pass ideas from having "Emergency Touring kits" ; spare parts for the bass, guitar and drums, fuses, tubes, gig / touring logistics / budgeting money for gas, food lodging and transportation and how to try to keep the band disclipined enough to show up to rehearsal, gigs and about responsibility of being in a band.

It could get hobbyists educated by seasoned " Road Hounds" on the logistics, ups and downs of being on the road.

How to divvy up the groupies? :p
Yeah ....if that were included, we'd better hope our Mothers, Girlfriends or Wives would not read those stories 😱🐔

Yes please.
There are things about playing guitar that you can only learn on a stage…..and I’ve still got lots to learn from all of you.

I really think that it can be helpful specially for the ones who are just starting, so they can have an idea of how to deal with things that one can only encounter playing live in front of a group of people as well as playing with different groups of people.
I know there is that point of hobbyists feeling insecure or being not in the same level, etc. I don't necessarily agree to this idea since I for one who have done hundreds of shows over the years never feel I am a better guitar player than anyone, hobbyists or not.

If it will help the gigging musicians in some way, I'm all for it. Maybe a few gigging musicians could let us know how it would help them. I gigged for many years so I do have some knowledge on the subject.
It's more of sharing experiences. There's a lot of things going in the background regarding doing shows. The music scene in one city is different in some ways but also the same in some other ways to another city.
And at the same time for those who have the intention of having their own bands and doing shows, can learn from these experiences too.

This what I thought - a go -to forum to get answers.

Yeah, I'd be into seeing a sub-section about gigging. Why not give it a try?

How about deleting the Premium Members section in order to make room for it? 😏
