For me, 4 hours of relaxed country driving was part of the appeal.
I don't know about your drive into Elmira but during mine I had seen more Mennonite horse's and buggies than I could count. That's no exaggeration,... if I had to take a guess it would have to be in the area of a couple hundred. Also drove over a ton of horse poop on some roads. It was pretty amazing to see. I'm assuming Sunday is their Church and socializing day.

As I was driving east into Elmira on Hwy. 86 I noticed a cloud of heavy dust being kicked up a couple kilometres ahead. Thought it was a dust storm coming off the plowed fields since the wind was blowing fairly hard all day,... turned out it was a train of buggies on the gravel shoulders. The car took a hard dust hit, lol.

Did a search for the largest Mennonite community in Canada,... turns out it is Elmira and St.Jacobs. It all makes sense now.

Picked up the 'Valve Warper' pedal by AUDIOFAB at the show Sunday. Stopped by their station where they had a full pedalboard products. The 'Valve Warper' caught my ear due to its cross between a Tone Bender and Tube Screamer which can deliver gentle crunch like distortion to full on fuzz. The tone is detailed and articulate and gives a very nice touch responsiveness with a tube amps clean channel. Every note rings out true and clear and would cut trhough any live or studio mix nicely without the excessive EQ adjustment sometimes needed.

Todd Schneider is the owner, designer, builder with an engineering background. Very nice gentleman with a plethora of electronics knowledge.

I have had that experience in the past, but didn't see a single buggy yesterday. I suspect that when I was traveling, they were already in church. Years ago, I was on a cycling trip in Mennonite Country and we rode past a church service in progress. Had to stop and listen for a bit - hundreds of voices singing four-part harmony acappella - pretty amazing!

Did you also attend Elmira? If so, how do they compare?
The Toronto show was about 1/10th the size and about half of the displays/booths were for pedals. There were also quite a few synth booths there as well. It's the first year, so I'm sure it'll grow. All vendors were for new product, I didn't see any vintage at all. Elmira was a mix of boutique, branded, and lots of vintage.
