The fender FR cabs seem quite well received, and they are easily available via l&m. I havent tried one myself but its on the list.

 

I only have experience with the fender model, seems like a quality unit. I really like the controls on top like the cut knob for quick adjustments on the fly.

 

I'm also a Fender FR-12 owner. I have 2 in stereo. I don't have experience with other FRFR speakers, but I'm quite happy with the FR-12s. The eq knobs seem like a great addition but honestly I've seldom used them. The Bass, Mid, Treble is always at noon, the cut is almost always completely left (off). Occasionally, I've added a slight high cut.

 

I use a QSC powered speaker. Just a plain old full-range PA speaker! Works great with my board. I think it’s more bang for the buck than the guitar-amp-look-alikes.

 

My jam group uses Alto TS speakers for guitar and vocals, and we keep up with an enthusiastic drummer.

 

How small/light do you want? How much power do you need? What kind of quality/price range are you after?

I have an Atomic CLR that I love. But, it's kind of big/heavy and EXTREMELY loud. I wouldn't want to use it at a small coffeehouse/bar (background music) gig.

Alesis/Headrush/AltoTS/etc (lots of brands using the same speaker and slapping their name/brand on it) make great small/light ones. The 8" ones are very small and light, and can get quite loud. I think @Chito used one to tour with for a while.

 

Not coffee house small, mostly for the blues jams which can get fairly loud. The smaller the better, price I'm not concerned about. Thanks
