Not for me, I wouldn't cross the street for one. They're not hard to find in the $400-$500 range.

 

If you got it for $350 it'd be a decent deal. They have that great Fender tone. They are kind of like the YCV40 in the way they just don't hold good resale value. The volume can be tamed by putting a 12AU7 or 12AY7 in the first slot. Some people love 'em, some can't stand 'em. I liked mine, but I was offered a good trade a few years back, and I took it. I don't miss my HRD anywhere near as much as the DRRI that was traded.

 

I don't think they have what people consider to be 'Fender tone'.

I wouldn't touch an HRD. There's a reason why you'll find a lot of them for sale.

 

I believe that they would be attractive to somebody who likes to tinker and modify, similar to the automotive type hot rods; if you have no interest in electronics or hacking, it may not be a project to take on.
