DI out on a Fender FR-12: What cable to use??

My main amp these days is a DR tonemaster. Sounds nice when I run the DI out with a XLR/TRS cable.

I occasionally will change it up and use my UA Lion and run it into a powered FR-12 cab. The stage tone I’m getting using a standard TS cable from the Lion to the FR-12 is killer! However, the FOH and IEM sounds like shite.

What sort of cable should I be running from the DI out to the mixing board? I gather it’s line level, so
should the XLR/TRS be the fix?

The output is line level. Are you plugged into a mic-level input or a line-level input? Most mixer inputs will be mic-level. There are usually special ones labelled line-level (or there will be a switch on the channel to switch between mic/line levels).

DI into a mixer usually sounds like shitake.
For some reason nobody has ever made a DI that sounds good...
It works for cleans but not for much else.

Crank the amp up, Mic the speaker cabinet, use an attenuator (one of several types) to get the stage loudness under control.
The result will sound much better.
