Question for anyone who ordered a Brothers AM and has received it. Did you end up having to pay any fees other than what Chase Bliss charges you at checkout?
Nope - and FedEx confirmed “all duties and fees paid by shipper” before it arrived (I called them in a panic thinking I’d certainly have to pay something 😆)

Received my Brothers AM a few days ago. Sent it back.
Way too much treble for my ears and drains the bass.
For what I want, it was a disappointment.
If you like a lot of treble, this may be the pedal for you.
The hype hooked me and now I'm free.
I built myself a Bluebreaker and found it way too shrill and strident for my tastes and rig. Like the JHS Morning Glory, the KoT is an improvement on the original Bluesbreaker design. And although it improves the bass from the original, I can see where it may not provide enough "treble taming" for some tastes. Chacun a son gout.

I went a step further than the KoT/Morning Glory and adapted the basic design even more, calling it the Wattbreaker, because it reminded me of a Hi-Watt amp I played at a jam, nearly 50 years ago. I tweaked it to have heavier clipping, more bass, and more treble-control.

Disclaimer-I’m a big KOT fan and long time user. My current KOT is a high gain red, I set it to DIST (red)/BOOST (yellow) which is a bit unusual I think-most people seem to stick with the stock OD/boost setting. I set the internal presence trimmer to about 11 o clock.

I have been fortunate enough to borrow the new CB for a couple of weeks from a friend-and compared it to my own KOT. the bass cut is pretty similar in both-the upper end is a bit brighter in the CB vs the KOT at similar settings but I disagree that it has too much treble, you just need to set the eq for the particular amp/guitar and it works quite well. I wonder if you had the treble boost circuit engaged-it pretty much does exactly what you describe, makes it crackly bright and cuts the bass.

As with most Chase Bliss pedals, you have a huge amount of “tweakability” but unfortunately it takes a bit of time and tinkering to figure out everything that it can do.

The big difference for me is the overall EQ seems more transparent in the CB-the KOT has a bit of upper mid boost that is less obvious in the CB.

My take on the KOT has always been that it works VERY well in a band mix but it sounds a bit honky when you play it at home. The upper mid boost and bass cut just sits so well in a mix. The CB sounds more neutral when playing in the basement-and I like that-but I haven’t tried it in a band mix yet. I will ask to borrow again in the next few weeks and give a bit more feedback once I’ve tried that.

I suspect it wasn’t intended to be an exact clone but rather the CB take on the KOT formula.

I really like it-small box, versatile and sounds great but I‘m not sure it will bump my KOT off the board.

I’ve spent approximately eight weeks with BrAM now (as of the time of this post). Over all, I totally dig it - a LOT!
Go ahead, I double dog dare ya to put aside a few minutes to check out my rather in-depth review. You might find it amusing, or interesting, or boring, or maybe even informative and insightful. *Grin.

My Brothers AM review, if you're interested. :)
Thanks, that was very thorough. It did remind me of pulling up a recipe on these food sites where you have to scroll endlessly through a long preamble before you get to the actual recipe. To use a music expression; don’t bore us, get to the chorus.

sorta kidding of course. I appreciate the detail. :)

Thanks very much; I’m glad you liked it, overall.
I’d put a lot of research into it. I tried to encapsulate as much history and detail into as brief a Preamble section as I could.
Re. Long preamble - yep, I know in today’s microwave-ready, instant camera world that some folks just want fast, easy, brief tidbits. On the other hand, not everyone knows the pertinent history behind the KoT, thus the relevance of what makes BrAM such an unexpected, big deal. Perhaps I’ll add some anchor links for anyone who would like to skip the Preamble section. :)

For those (like me) waiting on a pre-order, it looks like Chase Bliss started fulfilling batch 2 orders. According to a thread on the gear page, they shipped order 5095x yesterday…so close …
Thanks for this info! I know on the Chase Bliss instagram, they said all batch 2's should be shipped by the end of August which is not very far away, but of course I'm still itching for mine like a kid on Christmas day. Knowing 5095X shipped on July 28th is helpful! my order # is 525XX, I will update this thread when I get a shipping notification. Not too sure how many pedals are in batch 2 and how close to the end of the batch I am...
