Thanks for the nod.
In 2009, my long-time buddy RG Keen arranged for me to have lunch with Bob Weil, the owner of Truetone (then called Visual Sound). Over lunch, I tried to persuade Bob to implement order-flipping in his various dual pedals, noting that every year on the DIY Stompbox forum, we'd get inquiries about "should I put this before or after that?". I suggested that he could even include a loop and order flipping in single-effect pedals, such that the user could place their phaser or wah, before OR after the Truetone drive/distortion. He wasn't dismissive, but neither did he follow up. HOWEVER, when he switched from his "home-plate" shaped enclosures to regular rectangular cast-aluminum ones, housing two effects, he did include a loop insert that could permit changing the order as well as putting something between the two effect circuits. So, he traded one convenience for another. I suppose it depends on how one envisions the customer using the pedal. Personally, I like the instantaneity of flicking a switch, even if repatching affords more novelty and inventiveness.
