There is a minimum number of posts required before you can do that. I think it's 25?

 

There are several other rules regarding the FS section that you should probably read as well.

@Pro Window, you can post the seller's name on this thread, as I did with yours including the @, along with a message telling him that you're interested and ask him to contact you. This way, he will get an alert of your post.

I’ve been a member for awhile, but I’m not much for posting or replying. I’d like to message someone about an item they are selling. I understand the rules, but the same can’t be said for TDPRI or The Gear Page, as neither have a probation period that I’m aware of.
I guess I’ll have to become more active here, or look elsewhere for a marketplace.

Respectfully, the rules should be easier to find on this site, I found what I needed on Reddit and see many others seeking the same info on other sites to use this.

In the end I was able to connect with the seller but honestly, if I was trying to sell an instrument I would hope anyone could contact me, especially if I was a paying member. I understand restricting the selling side for scammers but the purchasers should be ok. No money, no guitar!

 

Would you still be okay with relaxed rules if a scammer was trying to contact you? The rules are there in an effort to protect users. If you want the Wild West, post on Kijiji or FB.

If it hasn't been said yet, nobody gives a shit (indignant new people should read this closely, twice). The rules aren't going to change because some Ted Nugent wannabe from Dog River Saskatchewan joins up and wants to buy a pedal. It's like joining the Legion and complaining you can't play darts on Remembrance Day. Suck it up and follow the rules, find a work around, or move on (trust me, we'll survive it).
