Lately kijiji's message system has been slow as all hell, so I started putting my email address in kijiji adds so people can email me directly. And, of course, scammers have started pouring in.

Here's the last one I got:

"Hello Seller......I am interested in your ( ITEM ) you have on Kijiji,Is it still available for sale ?If yes please do email me back its present conditions and your last asking price and do email me some pictures for a closer look if available...Bye for now i shall be waiting to hear from you

Stay Bless
Mike"

How lazy have scammers gotten? The only thing he had to do, besides copy-pasting, was to fill up the ITEM part with the actual item... So here's my reply:

"Hello Buyer

Thanks for contacting me about my ( ITEM )
It's in totally wretched condition
My last asking price is 4200$

Here is a closer picture of the ( ITEM ):

Fanculo
D."

My asking price in the add is actually 2100$...
And here's the reply I got:

"Thanks so much for the email, I'm happy you still have the ads for sale , I'm currently not in town for now,I'm Okay with your asking price which is {$4200} because i have a local pick-up agent that will come to your resident for the pick-up but that will be after when i send you the payment and the payment is received by you ,And my only mode of payment is via check which am gonna wait till it fully clears before am gonna send for my local shipping company to come over for the pick up okay.....Now i want you to email me back the following information such as:

Your Full Name:

Unit or Apt#:

Your full Contact address:

Your City:

Your Province:

Your Postal Code :

Your Cell/home phone number :

So that the payment can be mailed out to you without any further delay, Meanwhile the payment will be mailed out by Money Order Or Certified Cheque, I await your payment info Today ,Thank you."

So apparently you can pretty much reply anything to those idiots and they'll still go forward with their scam attempt.

I'm waiting to hear about you guys' funny replies : )

I have been tempted t do stuff like that--but I have better use of my time--but I am glad somebody messes with them--and makes me laugh as well...

I had a friend who used to reply, "But what about the monkeys?" whenever he got a note about the millions of dollars that were waiting for him in a Nigerian bank account.
Occasionally the scammer would actually reply with something like, "What monkeys?"
To which he would respond, "The monkeys that will fly out of my butt if I ever see the money."

I don't bother with such shinanigans online, though it gives me a good chuckle to read about it here. Sometimes telephone scammers get my attention so I respond with my inbred backwater simpleton act...at least until I get bored..."I have to poop. Bye."

The Windows Support fake callers, I keep em on the line a while till I get bored. They don't know what to say when I fire up my computer but then tell them it's not hooked up to the internet, and further it's a Mac. Well, to the last sometimes they respond with 'hold for the Mac division'.

Tell them your computer is a Commodore 64. Hopefully they will be old enough to know what that is.

Ha. When they call and I want some shits and giggles, I keep em on the phone for as long as possible. Follow the instructions that they're giving me like an old man who doesn't have a clue about technology or computers. Then I start to ask them much more specific question about what they are doing and questions that they wouldn't be able to answer at all. I was the main Network Admin for a company with 5 offices around 3 provinces for 15 years. I actually managed to get the Manager of the Windows call to take the phone and he ended up telling me to F*** off, amogst many other assorted sundry vocal specimens.

Ya, I'm petty.

@Lincoln ...I've also done that, the Mac one, and Linux just to see what various representatives of these efficiently run organizations would say. Great fun to be had.

if I thought it would make a difference i'd do *something about it*. as it stands, scammers aren't worth any more of my time than what they've already wasted.
