one of my keepers is my mexican fender tele(my first REAL brand guitar I bought new in 2002 I believe. before that I was using an encore coaster strat copy I received on my 6th birthday. now it's in pieces in my basement). My other keeper is my late 80s 54 reissue MIJ Fender Strat that I bought used from ebay in november or december I believe. I picked that one up for 640USD with a fender hard case.

Now for my other guitars. My yamaha acoustic is a keeper because i don't really need another acoustic so i have no reason to sell and it's a great guitar. My epiphone dot is great but it's not my favourite so who knows if I'll end up selling or trading it. It's sticking around until something pushes me to get rid of it.

I bought my Fender Custom Shop '69 Strat used, from a University student that had to pay off some expenses. His only guitars were it and a gibson 335, he had to sell one, and he was getting into jazz so he kept the 335.

It is definitely a keeper.

My keeper (one of them,anyway:tongue: )is a 1967 Gibson hummingbird that my Dad bought in Toronto when I was a kid.I think it was @ the 12th fret....anyway,he nearly chopped part of his hand off while woodworking,had nerve damage & couldn't play anymore.So he traded the guitar for a '49 Plymouth,I had to track it down& buy it back for almost double what it was worth (the guy knew how much it meant to me,and he really leaned on me ).The happy ending is,it's never EVER going toleave the family again!

And to reply to the "Keeper that turned out NOT to be a Keeper":itwas a '72 Strat neck on a '59 body.Cool when I was playing Dokken & Ratt in the '80's,but the EMG's and the Kahler trem really bummed me out as I developed an appreciation for vintage axes.Kahler.Ouch.

My keeper is a ibanez sz520 , bought new . I had 3 guitars after that one , and it's still the one I play over 95% of the time .
But I wouldn't mind buying used guitars . It's going to get scratched someday anyway , so as long as it plays well...

I got my 75 Les Paul Standard new in 1975, and my G&L Legacy new in 1997, and they are both my 'keepers'.

I got my strat over 30 years ago and it was used, it had the cigarette burn in the headstock at the nut under the strings, I still have it and use it all the time. My Bluesbird (2002) was bought used.

Mine is an Pre-Lawsuit Ibanez Les Paul, old school stuff! I've only been playing 11 months, but I know I'm never ditchin' this thing. I got it about 4 months into playin' and it's pretty much the only axe I touch now unless I need a floating trem, haha.

Both of my electrics are used...I just bought a used 7 string today aswell...

I'm not sure if I have any 'keepers' yet seeing as I've only been playing 2 1/2 years. I was thinking of giving up my PRS because, honestly I've almost grown out of them.
