As weed becomes more prevalent and as more and more Canadians become habitual users, do you think more and more deals will be paid for in weed?

I don't know if you remember the former (and legendary) Le Hibou coffee house on Sussex Drive. In the early 70's, it seemed like the scenario you describe was in effect. There felt like there was always a bunch of people on the sidewalk, each trying to sell each other weed in order to be able to afford going inside. Everyone had weed, but no one had money to exchange for it.

We have a strip mall near us with the usual sorts of tenants, dry cleaner, bakery, pub, shawarma place, Chinese take-out, barber, etc. The slot formerly occupied by a Mac's or Quickie (never paid much attention to the sign) was recently vacated. I was surprised to see signage go up the other day indicating that it would be a marijuana dispensary. Bad enough that on game nights, there's a row of smokers outside the pub. I suppose I should be glad that I won't need to go there to buy milk or bus tickets anymore.

Hamilton is getting inundated with them. As soon as the cops shut them down they reopen again. They are getting robbed quite a bit as expected, and the article in the paper last week stated that most go unreported.
I do know of 2 dispensaries that called the police after a robbery. Once the cops dealt with those details they then busted them for being a dispensary(or whatever the exact charge was ).
Its a great way for Organized crime to make a ton of cash quick.

Maybe in prison.

If weed is legal, then its no more likely to be used as currency as beer or cigarettes or porn.

Highly unlikely. I mean, we don't see people paying in cigarettes or booze right now. Why would they pay in dope when it's legal. Just because it's legal to grow/smoke/possess doesn't mean it will be legal for the average Joe to sell/trade for goods.

Well, if I give you a chicken you will have something for lunch but if I give you two eggs you can start breeding chickens and feed for life - I think fishing might come into it somewhere as well ... lol

I can't see weed becoming currency like other's have stated.

I do expect to see the collective IQ of the nation beginning to decline oh, in around July or so though.

Doubtful. Have you checked out washington's studies since legalization?

I had a guy want to trade a car for a guitar I had for sale....the guitar was probably under $400 if I recall correctly.

He was very persistent, even though I repeatedly told him no trades, especially a car.

He then started offering me guns in a trade.

Weed is just one more thing to trade in the underground economy. It might become more prevalent, but I don't think it's going to be an influence, ie, I won't need to have some just for trade purposes if I'm not a user.

The future of weed will be interesting, but how much I'm not certain.

Come out to the country for a while. We trade goods and services for smoke or drink all the time. I just finished off ~100 oz of moonshine i received in trade for 5 gallons of hydraulic oil.

And I just scored an 80s Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup for a bit of green.
