Why has it been so cold? Here's what science says

Read the article to see this quote in context,....`Climate change hasn't made the polar vortex more extreme, but it probably is making it move more, which makes the weather seem more extreme, he said.`

And the analogy used in this quote,.......... "A few cold days doesn't disprove climate change," Furtado said. "That's just silly. Just like a couple down days on the stock market doesn't mean the economy is going into the trash."

Global climate is like skin in that it is all connected. Tugging or pushing on it in one place has implications in another place. It's like how comedian Martha Chavez describes putting on Spanx: you may look great in the mirror, but it pushes all the fat so that it sticks out on your back.

We pay attention to the cold snaps because they're uncomfortable, but ignore the extended periods of punishing heat and no rainfall, and the multi-year droughts in places. The average temperature takes ALL of that into account. Folks who dismiss climate change because of brief cold snaps are like people who neglect all their overdue bills, and looming costs, but think they're filthy rich, come payday.

Let's just say window cleaning is a bit more difficult the last two weeks. I look on the bright side; only about four more weeks of the real cold stuff. I can make it that long.
