You have two custom built clones. Both 5 to 6 watts. Both with 12 inch speakers. One is based on the Tweed Princeton, the other is based on a Black Faced Champ. Would one of these take pedals better than the other. If so, why.

P.S. Guitars used would be Gibson types with HBs and P90s.

Not a direct answer, as I have no experience with tweeds. But, I assume the tweed is going to have less headroom so I would go with the blackface Champ. That way you have the option for a little more clean if you want it. Speaking very generally, and acknowledging that there are many exceptions, my experience has been that amps with more clean tend to take pedals better. I can tell you that our '76 VibroChamp takes pedals very well indeed.
