My officially highest grade guitars day, namely Collings OM1 and Huss & Dalton Crossroads, playing some Allen Alexander arrangements of Celtic tunes paying attention to the pressure exerted by my fretting fingers. ;)
Those Allan Alexander books are pretty good, and there're a lot of them.

An evening with the Furch. Love the combination of the Cedar / Mahogany.

That's a nice looking Furch! I keep switching between both my acoustic guitars these days (the electric guitars are probably getting jealous...), Martin HD28V (2011) and Furch G21-CR (cedar-rosewood, 2005). I call them the 2 sisters.

@iCGM : this gives you an idea of what to expect with the aging of your cedar top Furch!

Had a good day. Jesu on the cordoba is coming nicely, gaining a couple bars every day. Practicing time in a bottle and wicked game on the martin as I know sister loves those songs and has agreed to do a couple youtube vids with me just for posterity next time she visits, have the mahog tanglewood tuned for the rain song and may actually, Finally be able to play a somewhat respectful offering.
Dusted off the 12 string, flat picking even in the quietest moments looks Finally doable and with the boost from that started on Andy Gunn's misery blues. Put the youtube vid of him on half speed and have the first 3 or 4 bars of the intro sorted(not that I'll ever be able to play it, but, hey, gonna learn lot's by trying.

I have a friend who is starting a new open mic this evening. I really want to support him so I pulled out my Yamaha LL16M to try out a few songs. I was really rusty. Since I started playing bass a couple of years ago I haven’t been playing guitar much and hardly ever acoustic. Since the open mic will be amplified I made a small pedal board with a Boss chorus, HOF Reverb, and a LR Baggs Venue DI. The guitar sounded great. My playing not so much. I’ve been fighting a cold for the past few days. My singing was worse than my playing.

Martin OODB playing some Renaissance classical pieces… ;)

(…) Practicing time in a bottle and wicked game (…)
I also love those pieces : I have a fingerstyle tab of Time in a Bottle, but none for Wicked Game (I have chords and deciphered the riff).

I learned these versions, spoon fed note for note lessons that even I can play :)

All I played today was to run through even in the quietest moments on the 12 string and the rain song on the mahog tanglewood a few times.
I can't read music and while a niece told me about tabs, I looked at one and thought not for me, found it frustrating. I play mostly by ear from old recordings or if I can find a vid of someone playing a song I just watch what they do and copy it from the best of my ability.

Sometimes my brain just goes to fifths tunings. Gold Tone Irish tenor banjo and Moon mandolin.

Collings OM1 still caught by Allan Alexander’s arragments of Celtic and Irish pieces… :)
Aria AC-80 (nylon) playing classical pieces from « Flingerpicking Classical » tab book, going through forward in standard tuning, then backward in drop D to play the other pieces as well : I was amazed years ago to find some arrangements of reknowned classical pieces in drop D. ;)

Today I enjoyed some Sunday morning noodling on my Ted Thompson T3C. This guitar loves drop-D tuning and never disappoints; played “Take A Giant Step” (Taj Mahal style), such an enduring tune! Happy Super Bowl Sunday to my fellow pickers!…

Very nice. I used to babysit a friend’s Ted Thompson for long periods while he was travelling around the world. Understated elegance and killer tone.

@Roots-Picker Here it is. The owner has died so I don't get to play this anymore. If yours is even half as good you really have something.

Lovely acoustic @Mooh , thanks for sharing. Is this one a T3 jumbo sized body or a T1 model with the Larrivee L body style?
I found my T3C totally by accident on Kijiji, from a local Calgary seller had just bought another Thompson, this one a spruce/maple dreadnaught. Personally, I much prefer the tone of my guitar and feel extremely fortunate to have acquired it. (These don’t turn up very often!…) 🙏🏻
