I came across this article in the Atlantic which I thought some might find interesting here. Not that there is much in it that guitar players don't already know. Rather it's interesting to see how someone describes something we take for granted to a general and uninitiated audience. And they do so within the context and evolution of popular music. (I admit some of the historical items were new to me.)

And I guess I'm also secretly pleased that someone took the time to try and present something so dear to us to the rest of the unsuspecting populace.

I wonder how many non-guitarists read that--and of those non guitarists--how many were musicians of some other sort--

Yeah, I don't know if that story appeared in the print issue of the Atlantic, or only online. If it was in the print edition, then I would say a ton of non-musicians read it.
