I'm considering trading my '05 SWR 350x and Avatar SB112 cab for a friend's Gallien Krueger 400RB210 combo and $300 cash. Good deal? Bad deal? Fair deal?
I priced both amps on a couple of US discount sites and the SWR sells about $100 more than the new 400RB210. The Avatar cab cost me just over $300 new and doesn't owe me anything after two years of steady use in bars.

Well, I've always been a fan of GK. You won't be gaining any power, but you will be gaining the GK sound. I'd keep the 1x12 and use it along with the combo.

Keeping the 1X12 is definitely a good idea. The GK combo will only give you 180W of power since it will be rated at 8 Ohms. If you add another 8 ohm cabinet, you'll have a 4 ohm load and will then be taking advantage of the amp's full 280W. I have the 400RB head and I use it on a 4 ohm/400W 2X15" cabinet and I have no complaints.
