Ok, so I took my Microcube and my Epi SG up the street to do some busking yesterday. I plug it in, and the signal keeps cutting out, Tried looping the cord through the strap, still cutting out. Went back home and tried it again, same cord, couldn't get it to fail. So I tried busking again today with another cord. Again, outside, the signal kept cutting out. When I wiggled the plug in the guitar, the signal was in and out, and crackling like crazy. Ok, I thought, it must be the input jack on the guitar. Just got home and tried it again. Again, it works perfectly and will not fail no matter how much I wiggle the cord around. I'm either losing my mind or missing something really obvious, I guess. Any ideas?

I've had similar issues--not with busking--but playing one place & then another--all the same gear...
One place works & the other doesn't

Were you in the same playing position both inside and out ?
I'd assume you were standing while outside, were you standing when testing at home ?
I'd still suspect the jack, since you switched cables.

I was sitting both times, actually. Yeah, i'm thinking it must be the guitar jack, but why does it work inside and not out? So weird.

elementary watson. you must have been unaware that you bought an inside guitar. you see there are 2 types. inside guitars, and outside guitars. most outside guitars will play inside too, but it doesn't work in reverse. you see, the problem is, when you are outside, the inverse unilateral phase detractors will not sync with the magneto reluctors (sinusoidal de-pleneration) because the pan endermic radiation emitted by the sun, which is blocked by being indoors. outside guitars use a semi boloid array to compensate for this.

You have an inside jack and you're trying to use it outside?:) Sorry, but couldn't resist. It certainly is and odd problem. It must have something to do with the weather/temperature.

Do you have a second guitar you could switch to when the problem presents itself....I think it would be best to try and determine what component is acting up.....i assume you are using batteries at the street location and when you are trouble shooting at home.....

Yeah, it did piss me off;)
I was busking at Davisville and Yonge, I live nearby. Trying to, anyway.

Yeah, I do. I think it must the jack in the SG. I'll open it up tomorrow and take a look.
