Well he’s back and has resisted it n Kijiji for $900. This time claiming he bought it last year at a well known local used music store.

I’ve reported it to Kijiji but it still is up, along with the original user account.

Hope nobody gets sucked into this.
Did this guy ever try to actually scam anyone, like by asking for money up front or something? He could just be an idiot.

He didn’t reply to my initial messages when it was first listed, but did with others.

Sometimes what is being stolen is not money. I have no idea what this guy’s play is, Best case he is some idiot who likes screwing around with people, worst case he’s harvesting names, addresses and phone numbers for some other purpose.

Whatever is going on, he’s not legit and should be avoided.

It’s a weird situation….I messaged him about the guitar, and he’s evasive like a scammer, yet he talks the talk like he is 100% a guitar player.
Scammers don’t often do a very deep dive on learning the vernacular and terminology.

So my messages to him were guitar player to player questions, and ignored. But I also mentioned that I am local and wanted to meet him as soon as possible. Radio silence…..which is weird, if you have an active and motivated buyer not arguing over the price, you jump on it.

I bet if I said I was out of town and asked about shipping, he would reply.

Little update on this, a friend of mine has been very interested in the guitar so he asked for a picture under the pickguard... Just investigated the pic and he sent him a picture of a totally different guitar, those melody makers do not have that neck tenon and the advertised guitar does not have a gloss finish like the picture...

He was supposed to go check the guitar out today and the guy mysteriously went silent as of yesterday.

Hey, really sorry to hear this.

I reported this as a scam to kijiji weeks ago, and probably others here did too.

I’m pretty pissed that kijiji failed to take action when you and likely others reported this as a scam. If I could sue them without incurring legal fees I would.
How many of you guys reported this??? If you did, please email me at [email protected]

Small claims in Ontario is up to $25,000 and costs around $75 to file (which you get back if you win). It’s geared to be very “user friendly” to every day people and the judges are used to dealing with people without legal representation. If you have a good case with facts, dates, evidence, etc., you might do okay.

I’ve sent a couple of unanswered PM’s to the scam victim, I would suggest nobody reply to his yahoo address in this thread to be on the safe side. We can chat here or in PM without giving a personal email.

Somebody yesterday posted something about suspicious listings about a L6-S and EB-0 (they are still up).
Turns out that sketchy guy has positive review from the sketchy guy selling the Melody Maker...
Go figure lol! Had a feeling it was the same bloke.

Check the other reviewers, we'll probably see them post guitars once the current account disappears... 😐🤬

This scammer needs to be stopped

My sister went to small claims over her tenants using her beautiful house as a grow op as well they ruined the hardwood floors etc. She found it very difficult process to serve and collect when she won.

In her case she got a break when she tracked down the tenant's employer to serve the garnishe and the employer denied she worked there. My sis went back to court and the judge applied the garnishe to the employer because by denying the tenant worked there but she did, the employer became on the hook. The tenant wanted to keep her job so she paid up over a series of installments.

Sis said next time she'd write it off. She did the repairs and sold the house.
