Time to troubleshoot.

Sounds like a connection problem. Start by trying a different cord. If that doesn't work, try examining the jack on the guitar. Then try switching amps.

One of those three exercises will reveal a difference.

Same thing happened to me, when I switched pickups, the tone would drop. If that stuff doesn't work, try resoldering the connections or buying a new 5 way switch.
