Sykes was a store brand amplifier. There used to be a music store on the Danforth in Toronto in the 60's callled Larry Sykes. Not sure who made the guts to them, but Sykes stuck his name on the products. As far as I can recall, all the amps were printed circuits, no tubes ( but I could be wrong there). Hope this helps.
I used to live near the Sykes store on Danforth and owned a few of their amps. They had nothing to do with Traynor, but like Pete, they built clones of Fender circuits and the ones I had were definitely all tube (1960s). They also built custom cabs. I knew a guy who worked in their fab shop.
I guess you could call their products the poor man's Fender amp. A guitar player I gigged with told me that they moved to Scarboro before closing shop.
