It was ok and liked but same ol' really and why not? It works!
Bond is a rogue, women hate him but eventually throw panties in his face. Bad guys know who he is but keep him alive or try to kill him as slowly as possible while making another attempt to take over the world. Who the bad guy is and how he wants to carry out his plan is really the only thing that seems to change.

that movie sucked balls

without spoiling the plot, the stuff from his "past" they keep throwing in these movies is a joke.

Not necessary at all, and total leap of imagination

Why can't they just make a good Bond movie, like Dr No, From Russia With Love, Thunderball, Live & Let Die, etc

in the next movie: we'll find out James Bond was really Spiderman, when he was a teenager!

Crikes....

Sean Connery said no. He was a damned good dragon too. David Niven was a good Bond also.

I'm disappointed to hear the negative reviews! I was looking forward to seeing it. As long as it's sort of mindless action with some hot Bond girls, I'm sure I still will enjoy it but I never expect a Bond movie to be designed to make me change my perspective on life if you know what I mean.

I'm not - they're just 'one man's opinion'. Won't change my plans to see it (rent it actually, haven't been in a theatre in years).

Personally, I like this reboot of Bond better than anything since about 1979. Dalton, the Bond that was to draw woman viewers with his softer, 90s persona. Pointless crap. Brosnan films were a complete joke - supercars fall out of planes and are nosed in to the ground without a fricken scratch on them. Even the majority of Moore's Bonds were jokes but they were on purpose - and have become classics.

But these new films show him as a real character again, bruises, beatings and all. Best Bond since Lazenby, who was just behind Connery, IMO. Too bad GL got screwed over by his handlers, I would have liked to see what he would have done with a few more films.

Funny you say that about Lazenby, isn't he almost universally panned as being awful? I watched his Bond a few months back and thought he was actually quite OK (I know, not exactly a ringing endorsement, hey he wasn't Olivier or anything), and wouldn't have minded seeing him again as Bond.

Craig makes an excellent Bond, though of the 3 he's done so far that I've seen I will admit he (or the movies/scripts themselves, I'm not enough of a critic to pretend to know the diff) slips a notch each time out, ie., the first one he did was easily his best and was the best Bond film in a long long time.

Craig is good as Bond, it's the idiots who wrote the script/story I have a beef with

I guess I can't actually discuss why I didn't like it, as there would be spoilers

it had great potential...the trailer is actually better than the movie

Have to agree with you there, Keto. Casino Royale was the best so far. I really enjoy the grittiness of the new Bond. Craig does a good job. Still looking forward to seeing Spectre.

BTW, I still go to the theatres. Especially for blockbuster action flicks. I like the big screen and the big sound.

Maybe I should specify - I don't 'blame' Dalton, Brosnan et al for their Bond movies. All the blame (and credit for previous good flicks) goes to Cubby Broccoli. His daughter, Barbara, gets the credit for the reboot.

And I agree, Casino Royale was the best, but maybe that's because it was the first of this series, it was new and different, starting all over again? Some of us were waiting for something like that. But all of Craig's (well, 1st 3 - haven't seen the 4th yet) are still miles better than anything produced from about '85 until '06, IMO.

I dunno, I was born in the "Moore generation"...so when I go back and watch the Connery movies, they were plenty cheesy as well. ie Goldfinger. A guy who throws hats that cut threw concrete? fuck me...easily as stupid as the other guy who bites through steel cables.
Like myself, apparently, Ian Fleming never cared for Connery in the role. once you get over the accent, theres nothing particularly suave about the guy. And ya, I know hes supposed to be an SAS or whatever, but as 007, hes also supposed to be blending in with the rich and powerful elite.

IMO, the 2 best are Craig and Brosnan. In fairness, their depictions are a reflection of whats going on in cinematography at the time. movies go through eras the way music does (ie pop, metal, grunge, rap etc). Brosnans movies were typical of their times....lots of over the top Michael Bay special effects and stunts etc. Craigs reflect an attempt to be more "realistic" or at least grittier...and this has been pretty typical of most movies since Blackhawk down etc were released. The actors just read the scripts.
But the whole thing is like discussing who the best Batman / Bruce Wayne was (the correct answer is Bale) ;)

Lately im feeling like as much as ive enjoyed the 007 series over the years, theyre tremendously over rated. so many movies, almost no character development. a huge period when the movies became a parody of themselves, and now theyre pretty much just a generic action movie with little difference between them and Mission Impossible etc.

Well I went to see that movie...typical Bond action... some of the action scene were spectacular on the big screen along with the thundering sounds to emphasise those moments, however, the story line and plot didn't really impress me, along with giggling geriatrics seat next to me sort of made that outing so so.
