I am dissatisfied with the sound quality out of these two amps , for bass .
With the Rumble , a low E on the bass makes the speaker sound like it is on the brink of self-destruction .
1. Could I put a 4 ohm speaker in there to extract a little more power ? Or
would the Rumble succumb to a thermal meltdown ? Would a more robust model of speaker handle the low frequencies better ?
2. And basically the same question apply to my GK MB150 II .

Thoughts ?

The upright you bought? Perhaps a bass EQ pedal to fine-tune would be a better buy?
No . Just gonna use the Rumble for regular Fender bass stuff . After reading some articles in TalkBass about the Rumble I did a mod . I lined the interior ( 4 sides out of the 6 ) with acoustic foam . Final results yet to be determined but I think at first blush it helps .

The standup is for sale . Just not my thing .

If you want firmer bass, you need a lot more power. When I need more power for loud stages, I usually rent an Ampeg SVT3 pro with a proper 4x10 cab. I love that amp, but it's way more power than I'll ever need/use at home, where the Rumble 40W takes over for me to practice bass lines in my home studio.
