I just thought I'd let you know about a new free touch screen friendly digital audio workstation I was reading about on another forum recently called Soundbridge. I downloaded it to try it out and it's quite impressive. It supports AU and VST plugin formats and has some nice automation and MIDI features. It also has the option where if it's scanning your plugins and it comes across one that causes problems there's an option to put the plug-in into a "black list" so then there won't be issues when the program starts up again. The only thing I don't like about this feature is the fact that it has to re-scan the plugins all over again from the beginning. If it could start from the next plugin after the one that caused problems that would be better.

Other than that, this is a pretty nice DAW and I'd also recommend downloading the free RitMix drum machine plugin as it has some pretty cool features. When you go to the website you'll notice immediately that you have to enter your e-mail address as well as making up a password but once you do this you can download the program. You'll also notice links on the right hand side of the page that offers links to tutorials as well as a 1.2 gig zip file for Windows of various free plugins. Of course you can find these on the internet but it's nice to have a zip of the various plugins so you don't have to go hunting for them.

There are also free soundbanks to download. When you get everything up and running you'll notice that Soundbridge wants to connect to the internet but you don't have to do that if you don't want to. You'll notice there's a button for offline mode. If you press that you'll get instructions on how to use Soundbridge offline. Soundbridge does have a service online you can use if you want to collaborate with other Soundbridge users. I haven't used it myself so I'm not sure what exactly is involved. Here are some links to tutorials on their YouTube channel:

And of course the website itself is at

Just thought I'd mention something for Windows users, don't do what I did and install both the 32 and 64 bit versions on your computer. I started the 64 bit version last night and I noticed it was reading my 32 bit plugins which I thought was odd. After the program was ready to go I checked my program preferences and noticed that the setup had changed to reading the 32 bit plugins so I made the changes to use the 64 bit folder and from now on I'm using the 64 bit version. I guess they must use the same code or something along those lines. I thought because I have both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Tracktion 6 running that Soundbridge would be fine with both versions on the same computer. Oh well. :) Overall I'd say just download and use one version, either the 32 bit one of the 64 bit one.
