I read on the internet that if one has one of these, one can get some decent electric jazz tones from it.

I have one of these ....AND I miss the electric jazz tones and pretending to be a jazz guitarist.

So..... Today I bought one of these...
peavey 335.JPG

for $200.00 (Peavey JF1-EX with new full size Grovers)

It is good enough for my fake jazz noodling requirements.

Thanks @amagras

I read about this type of combination, watched some Youtube demos and went to the music store to try out the concept.

The next day I saw this guitar on Kijiji and it was too difficult to resist .

I guess I need to do some travelling on the electric train after all.

Ha, I knew you wouldn’t be able to stay away from electric, Dave :). Congratulations!

Are you going to change your handle to ‘peavey’ ?
Or life is better PLUGGED IN.

The twelve year old in me requires that I say “that’s what she said”. Ahh that felt good, also ... TWSS.

Hey Greco: your post was very helpful to me. I already like the Fishman mini for acoustic but was afraid to plug an electric guitar into it.
I just tried it and I'm smiling. Thank you for your post.

It plays and sounds fine.
The new Grovers are a nice touch and it also has a new set of strings.

The electronics need a bit of work and I have done some of that. I'm having fun playing it and I'll leave the electronics for another day.

$200 for that peavey is a good buy, IMO. Enjoy!

The majority of the wires were hanging on by one strand and the bridge ground was not connected. Another ground wire was also only connected at one end.

I'm so pleased that I have the tools, wire and experience to rewire one of these.
The pots went in/out of the 'f ' holes with exactly .000257841 inch clearance.

@laristotle will remind me to take a battery operated amp next time I buy an electric...wise advice. However, even if I had found these issues, it would be tough for me to ask the seller to reduce the price from $200.00.

It is very quiet now...the way it should be.

Cheers

Dave
