I know about Silvertones. I have a guitar and an amp, both from the 60s. There is a very good website that has all the info, too. I'll share that after we see a pic!

I hope you had it serviced recently because ........... like .............. Sears is gone now.

If the guitar is the one in your avatar, it looks very similar to a Kent branded guitar I had as a child. By the time I got it in the late 90s it was probably 3rd or 4th hand. I believe they were made by Guyatone. I'm sure Guyatone and other Japanese companies were selling to Sears & Roebuck back in those days, but the guitars were most often branded Silvertone, being Sears' 'house brand' for instruments as of 1940.
