I got a poly finish on this body. Stain is VERY dark. This photo was taken outside and Photoshoped to get the grain popping out. In reality,the guitar is black if you are not looking to find the grain. It would be nice to bring it out.

This is a veneer top. If I strip the poly, can I get to chemically take some dye/stain off the grain to get it lighter ?

Anything soaked into the grain is going to be a major PITA. You will have to sand a ton to get to where there is no dye in the grain
