IME, if it says it can shred 20 pages, it means onion skin. That translates to 4 or 5 'real world' pages. Unless, I suppose, you get a pro unit.

We have an early Fellowes small office level model and it has never let us down. I never push it beyond about 4-5 pages at once.

Yup I bought a $50 one years ago...it does maybe 5sheets at a time. Haven’t used it in years other than getting rid of some old love letters from Linda Ronstadt.
