I'm looking for a 5 string jazz set, not too much money and passive.

Anything you would recommmend, and any good places online in Canada to check?

I've liked Bart's in basses I've had in the past. I'm thinking maybe the jazz set and just running them passive without the active preamp.

Any good places online to buy pickups?

I don't know. I know Steve's has them, but that's if you want to deal with Steve's.

Maybe a good thig to call them from the US, as the exchange rate is good...

I've got to go against the previous posts because I've tried Barts in 3 different basses and hated them in every single one... Which just points out that the person playing the bass is the only one that can make the final decision as to what sounds great. But, I'd suggest contacting the Steamco guys in Winnipeg (they're members here too) and getting a set of Carey Nordstand's pickups... You could go with either the vintage single-coils or the updated dual coils that don't hum... His stuff is amazing!
