I recently pick up the guitar after about a year hiatus. I’ve been really into d’angelos latest record.
My question is. Where would I begin to learn that style or playing ?

Thanks for any advice.

I would look for a teacher who's style compliments the way you learn. As for the guitar, I imagine like most genres any guitar can do it. Find the guitar that inspires you to play.

(edit: since re-reading your post I'm not sure you're asking about buying a new guitar)

Since we have members near you, hopefully one of them can point you to a good teacher (or at least someone to ask).

Good luck!

Stratocaster positions 2 and 4 or an ES 335 style guitar middle position.

D'angelos music has a lot of influences from jazz and blues to old school soul, I don't know anything about your musical background but think you it is a good idea to learn some theory to be able to get into those styles. I would check out Matt Warnock website and learn a lot of chords scales and how they relate to each other.

Also, I'm sure you'll dig Robert Glasper Experiment, check it out if you haven't.
