If you post a general interest question like this one WTB: - Combo Tube Amp, in a paid subscription section, you'll only receive answers from paying members. You might miss a lot of good info.

Exactly where I'm going with this. Not the first time I want to reply but can't. If you want info on a product for sale, you have to contact the buyer directly. So seller might have to answer the same request a few times to different interested members, because his answer to me won't be made public.

you can message the seller directly. unfortunately the ability to do the feedback rating etc won't be usable.....

It's pretty easy to send a private message. It makes the forum cleaner as well. It's for buying, selling, and trading. It's not for chit chat. The rest of the GC forums cover that. When I'm buying or selling I prefer to keep negotiations private.

The software cannot be set up that way. You either have permission to post in that section or you don't. It cannot be set to any conditions like that. The only way non paying members can respond in the for sale section is through PM. Typically people wanting feedback on which type of gear they might like is posted in the open forums.
