Keep your gear, times and needs change, as do preferences and wants. I kind of fell into bass playing and have had bass jobs, guitar jobs, guitar and bass jobs, as well as other instruments, so luckily I've kept at least some gear for every eventuality. For a time I didn't have an electric guitar requirement and could have sold off or minimized my rig but wisely didn't because when I needed it I really needed it and couldn't have afforded to buy in again.

Bass is awesome though, and the world needs good bass players.

I’ve decided to keep kicking this can down the road a bit longer.

I sold most of my underused/unloved guitar stuff to pay for my bass rig. The stuff I’m left with is the stuff I kept for specific reasons. I think it’s a waste for it to just sit there, but I don’t really need the money so there’s no real motivation to purge my basement.
