Hi all!
I've had my Tely for quite a few years now, but when I got it, every time you touched the pickguard, you would hear a small, but distinct static noise through the amp. Strangest thing. Eventually I just took it off (see pic), but sometimes I think I'd like the pickguard look again.
Anyone come across this problem before? It occured with different amps, venues etc.
Thanks for any help!

Cool, thanks for the tip!
Now, I wonder if I could stand my tely smelling like
"breezy ocean fresh vanilla" or some such fragrance?!

I would never rule out shielding as a good option, but you could also install a wooden pickguard. They are dead easy to make using your original if you have a router and you can get a piece with a nice grain top.

I've used thin cabinet grade plywood with a venner top and stained it to match the guitar so it almost looks guardless. If you like contrast you can use whatever colour you like. The plywood is usually thicker than the stock pickguard, but everything still works.

I really don't think that it makes that much of a difference, but just about any type of wood has got to sound better than plastic.
