Not sure why this isn't receiving more attention on the news but a Canadian pet food supplier is recalling a ton of stuff due to vomitting and kidney failure in both cats and dogs. Check out the recalls in the attached link.

I've got my dogs on the BARF (bones and raw food ) diet. It has really done wonders for them. If anyone is interested there is tons of info on the net about it.
My dog's on that too. She went from having tons of health problems and going to the vet almost every month to being extremely healthy and just going once a year.

Amazing isn't it. Shinier coats, more energy, chubby dogs slim down. A good buddy of mine put his dog on it and it's hip problems disappeared.

Its funny, this diet is pretty much how we fed our dogs (as did most farm folk) when I was growing up. Bones ,raw meat, left over veggies. Then overnight it seemed that this wasn't a good way to feed your dog. Funny how things make full circle.

Did you notice a difference in the cleanup required around your yard?

I just heard RAT POISON was put into the food!

Yeah, I heard that too!

Apparently, the company had just signed up a new supplier of wheat gluten in China. China has quite a problem with rats eating crops in some areas. Almost immediately thereafter the troubles began.

Just another example of what can happen if you buy solely on the cheapest price! This might put the pet food company out of business.

But I'm sure their management all have MBAs...

Most unfortunate, but you are right about the low cost supplier thing. That will come back to bite a lot of people. Car companies included.
Interestingly enough, both Leo Fender and Gar Gilles said that they didn't pick alot of the brands of components for their amps based on tone testing but based on which ones they could get the cheapest.

I agree to a point on the low cost thing. People need to do their homework but more expensive isn't always better either.

This is a truly unfortunate event, and thankfully my pets weren't affected by it. The company should have checked better and the government should have more regulations on animal food ingrediants. This is the whole mad cow/livestock feed thing again.

Our dog Miki.....
kept throwing up everytime she would eat for a couple of weeks,,,,
we had her to the vet twice and rang up a bill of 1200 bucks....
the vet had her on interveinous fluids did xrays..etc....
finally told us to feed her only I cup of dry food mixed with warm water to soften it....
she was eating one of the brands on the list...Iams

I kept thinking someone must be poisoning her...from her symptons...

she is now okay.....but we had a rough couple of weeks...
