NGD- MIJ Shredder!

Picked this beauty up over the weekend- 1989 MIJ RG750 with Dimazio made IBZ/USA pickups and an original Edge tremolo.

Have been on the lookout for something like this for a while, flashing back to my youth with the rack gear and superstrat concept. Plays fantastically and the tones are good although the in between tones (middle plus split neck or middle plus split bridge) are a little low in output and a little lean as compared to a strat but still digging the guitar in spite of that.

Congrats, cool colour!
The color thing is kind of interesting. It's not shown in the USA or Japan catalogs from '89. It's silvery grey but with a hint of green. Most references to this color I've seen online mistakenly refer to it as Violet Metallic but there's nothing Violet about it and in the 1989 catalogs Violet Metallic looks (obviously) much different. I'm guessing that the color was probably for a specific region- maybe Canada as Efkay (Canadian Ibanez distributor) have offered colors that are not in the catalog on various models in the past. I also ran across a gallery showing this model/color in Asutralia and referring to it as Green Apple though it's a lot different from the late 90's Green Apple that Ibanez used. Who knows but I do like the color!

Nice! I bought a RG570 in the early 90's that I loved. Folkish my traded it in 2000 for a MIM Tele that I no longer have. Wish I still had the RG.

I had an '89 RG570 in the early 90's that I loved. Great guitar that played well and had some of the best sustain/feedback capabilities of any guitar I've owned- wish I had never sold it. That era of MIJ Ibanez stuff is great.
Agreed! How is the trem on that after all these years? It took a lot to ever knock mine out of tune.

I'll have to reserve judgement on the trem for now as the bar was missing when I got it. But I'm sure that typical of the Edge it's going to be smooth and stay in tune great.

Very nice! I had the exact same one about 10 years ago, only yours has far less chips. I've also seen it called Ice Blue Metallic as well as VM. But I too thought it was more of a grey/green colour.
Great score! I LOVE MIJ Ibanez guitars (I own 6) and that one is a beauty! I'm a sucker for the shark tooth inlays. Congrats man!
I see you're rocking a Rexx preamp. Do you like it more than your ADA? I see what I think is the same one come up for sale now and again in Calgary

The Rexx is good sounding for sure but nowhere near as flexible as the ADA. They're both good but different. The Rexx stuff I used in the late 80's for gigging and basically reacquired for nostalgic reasons. Curiously, at the time, the other guitarist in that band was using the ADA...
